Friends,
We are delighted to officially announce we have found the perfect new home, and we are relocating our offices and operations to new headquarters in Old Louisville this May!
“Are you sure That we are awake?
It seems to me That yet we sleep, we dream.”
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream
For the past few months we have been renovating and repurposing an 8,700 square foot vacant shell building at 616 Myrtle Street, just steps away from Central Park. This is the first time we’ll have our entire operations in one location – offices, costume shop, rehearsal/community space, and storage warehouse. Thanks to some incredibly generous Kentucky Shakespeare lead cornerstone donors, we have fully funded the $250K first phase of the renovation project – investing in our Old Louisville building and neighborhood! The office portion of the building will be fully complete next month.
“I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it.”
– As You Like It
CURRENT PHASE: We are now working to raise an additional $50K by this summer to complete the costume shop and purchase HVAC for the back half of the building. This would enable summer season rehearsals to begin in the unfinished space this summer! If you would like to support this campaign or know a potential interested donor, please visit this link or email us.
FINAL PHASE: Once we get moved into the space, fundraising for the final phase to finish out the rehearsal hall/community space – walls and floor, plus landscaping, will take place over the next year with a summer 2022 target date for total project completion. Upon completion of the final phase, the building will feature a massive 4,000 square foot community space and rehearsal hall, where our many education and community programs will take place, in addition to serving as an Old Louisville community meeting space and rehearsal space for local arts groups.
“Joy delights in joy!”

We are preparing for our return to live parks performances in 23 neighborhood parks this spring with our Shakespeare in the Parks tour and our 2021 summer season of Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park.
Thanks to those who’ve helped make this dream a reality. And thank you in advance to those of you able to help us get to the next level of the project!
Gratefully,
Matt Wallace
