Absences:
If there are any circumstances that would require a change in arrival or departure time or in absences from Camp such as heavy traffic, doctors appointments, emergencies, sickness, etc., then please give Camp Shakespeare staff as much of an advance warning for preparation as possible. Please email education@kyshakespeare.com to share those details. Dress Code: Your young artists will be stretching, dancing, doing stage combat, painting, gluing, and moving around a great deal during their time at Camp Shakespeare. We recommend avoiding flip-flops, short skirts and shorts, restrictive clothing, etc.
Food: Campers must bring their own lunch (including a beverage) and we recommend one or two Snacks as well that do not require refrigeration. Water bottles are also highly encouraged. Please be considerate of any food allergies other campers may have.
Medications: Any medication brought to camp must be in the original container and accompanied by a complete description of instructions. Camp Staff do not administer any Camp-provided medicine including pain relievers.
Personal Items: Any personal items brought to camp are the responsibility of your child. Camp Shakespeare staff assumes no responsibility for these items. Please make sure to label all of your children’s items with their name.
We take pride in what great leaders and good examples our students are for each other. If there should be any negative behavior such as use of profanity, bullying, or discourteous behavior to other students or our Staff, then students will be given a warning and parents will be notified as well. If behavior continues after this warning, then students can be dismissed with no refund.
Final Performance:
On the last day of camp, your camper will be performing in a final sharing for friends and family. Camp will be held as usual from 9am-4pm. Campers should be picked up at the regular time and are expected to have their own transportation to the park that night.
It is a tradition to use the Kentucky Shakespeare stage in Old Louisville’s Central Park, located between 4th and 6th Streets at Magnolia Avenue. These showcases are held right before the Main Stage production which is free to attend. We will communicate with you on the Wednesday of their performance week about their designated meeting place and call time to be in the park. These performances will generally begin by 6:45-7pm. We’ll bring their camp t-shirts, costumes and props that they’ve made at camp, and everything that they’ll need. Be prepared to have them slip their shirts on over any clothes that they are wearing or use the park restroom to change once you arrive.
Due to excessive high temperatures, heat indexes, or other severe weather, Kentucky Shakespeare reserves the right to decide what is in the best interest for our campers and their families up until that final camp day. These performances may occur in-doors at our rehearsal hall one block away from Central Park at 616 Myrtle St. Details will be communicated to you closer to that time should this alternative plan be needed. We will not cancel the performance.
