Campus: St. Francis High School
233 W Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202 (Enter on 3rd St.)
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Information:
All Camps are Monday-Friday.
Drop-Off each day will be from 8:30-9:15 AM
Pick-Up each day will be from 3:45-4:15 PM
Drop off will occur outside of St. Francis High School on Third Street which has become a two way street (a change from previous years), so parents will need to approach from Broadway/South. Each camper will need to remain in their vehicle until approached by Camp Shakespeare Staff for mandatory temperature checks and confirmation that no COVID symptoms have occurred before they are allowed to exit their vehicle and enter the building. If a temperature of 100.4 or above is present or any of the symptoms, then campers will be encouraged to go home to monitor their symptoms before returning to Camp another day. Please read the COVID policies for more information on this. At the end of the day, Camp Shakespeare staff will escort campers out to their rides.
Please be timely in regards to the pick up/drop off times and be aware that Drop-Off will take longer than normal due to COVID policies. Do not drop off your student without a Camp Shakespeare staff member signing in your student. No one will be admitted into St. Francis outside of normal camp hours.
If there are any circumstances that would require a change in arrival or departure time or in absences from Camp such as heavy traffic, doctors appointments, emergencies, sickness, etc., then please give Camp Shakespeare staff as much of an advance warning for preparation as possible. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to share those details. Please note that absences not only effect your student’s participation in the camp, but it also affects how the other campers are able to work on their performances. Please keep these absences and delays to a minimum.
Enrollment is limited and advance payment is required for all camps. In the event of extreme circumstances that prevent your child from attending camp you may request a cancellation with the following schedule:
Cancellations received on or before May 15, refunded 90%
Cancellations received after May 15 but on or before June 1, refunded 75%
Cancellations received after June 1 but on or before two weeks prior to session start date, refunded 25%
Cancellations received within two weeks of the camp starting, refunded 0%
Please note that we arrange sessions by ages for the benefit of our campers and instructors. Students will need to register only for the appropriate session based on their age as of June 1, 2021.
Dress Code: Your artists will be stretching, dancing, doing stage combat, painting, gluing, and moving around a great deal during their time at Camp Shakespeare. We recommend avoiding flip-flops, short skirts and shorts, restrictive clothing, etc.
Food: Campers must bring their own lunch (including a beverage) and we recommend a Snack as well that do not require refrigeration. Water bottles are also highly encouraged. Please be considerate of any food allergies other campers may have.
Medications: Any medication brought to camp must be in the original container and accompanied by a complete description of instructions.
Personal Items: Any personal items brought to camp are the responsibility of your child. Camp Shakespeare staff assumes no responsibility for these items. Please make sure to label all of your children’s items with their name.
We take pride in what great leaders and good examples our students are for each other. If there should be any negative behavior such as use of profanity, bullying, or discourteous behavior to other students or our Staff, then students will be given a warning and parents will be notified as well. If behavior continues after this warning, then students can be dismissed with no refund.
On the last day of camp, your camper will be performing in a final showcase for friends and family. Camp will be held as usual at St. Francis from 9am-4pm. Campers should be picked up at the regular time and are expected to have their own transportation to the park that night.
It is a tradition to use the Kentucky Shakespeare stage in Old Louisville’s Central Park, located between 4th and 6th Streets at Magnolia Avenue. These showcases are held right before the Main Stage production. We will communicate with you the week of the performance their designated meeting place and call time to be in the park. These performances will generally begin by 6:30-7pm. We’ll bring their camp t-shirts, costumes and props that they’ve made at camp, and everything that they’ll need. Be prepared to have them slip their shirts on over any clothes that they are wearing or use the park restroom to change once you arrive.
Due to excessive high temperatures, heat indexes, or other severe weather, Kentucky Shakespeare reserves the right to decide what is in the best interest for our campers and their families up until that final camp day. These performances may occur in-doors or virtually. Details will be communicated to you closer to that time should this alternative plan be needed. We will not cancel the performance.
